About Me
Akane Sanchez-Takei is a California licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is certified in pediatric acupuncture and cosmetic/facial acupuncture. She graduated from UCLA in Biochemistry and researched Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia at Cedar-Sinai Hospital for three years.
Her dedication to education and research came from the hope to cure her mother who was fighting metastasized breast cancer. When her mother’s condition worsened, she took her to several doctors for second opinions, negotiated hospital bills, and hunted for herbs and natural foods that could miraculously relieve her malnutrition; she was in desperate search for an alternative. Following her mother’s passing, a period of deep introspection she realized her true inspirational goal. Akane wants to serve the people in her community with proper information and with the highest quality of healthcare.
Although research to discover the mechanisms of the body was fascinating, she wanted to know more about how these microsystems were connected. During her research, she discovered an interest in Eastern medicine, a practice based on the ancient philosophy that all aspects of the body are interconnected. She attended a four year Master’s program at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, the top ranked acupuncture school in California. Her personal experience with acupuncture and herbal medicine gave way to her love and passion for Eastern medicine.
She uses Japanese style acupuncture, which utilizes a more gentle approach, and specializes in Pediatric Acupuncture and Women’s Health. Holistically bridging modern Western science with Eastern medicine, she focuses on patient-centered health care which addresses a wide range of common health needs.
Akane is a mother of four wonderful healthy children. With the support of her lovely husband, she manages to spend time with family, friends, her extensive studies and acupuncture practice. She also makes time to do what she loves such as hiking in nature, oil painting, musicals, and scrapbooking. The key to longevity is balance. She strives for the well-being of others by helping children and adults to restore balance and harmony in life. Her heart aims to put a smile on each and every one who walks into her practice.
