Holistic Pediatric
Akane loves working with children.
She uses a Japanese style of pediatric acupuncture called Shonishin, a very gentle non-needling treatment technique. Shonishin technique was developed in Osaka, Japan during the 17th century. It was mainly used for infants as young as one month old to children up to the age of seven using non-invasive tools to stroke, rub, tap and press on the skin to produce gentle stimulation and a smooth flow of energy. Shonishin offers a viable alternative to pharmaceuticals in treating physical, behavioral and emotional childhood problems. For older children, gentle “tapping” acupuncture is performed. Tapping stimulates the body’s ability to heal itself without drugs that may cause unwanted side effects. We help to balance physical, mental, emotional, nutritional and environmental aspects of well-being in children.
